What laptop do you use? Brand? Model? Specs?

A8SC by Asus.

It’s got Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T7100 (1.8GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache), 2G DDR2 667 MHz SDRAM, 14″ WXGA(1280×800), NVIDIA Geforce 8400M G, External 128MB GDDR2 VRAM, SATA 120GB (5400rpm), DVD Super Multi, SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO Card Reader, 0.3 Mega-Pixel web-cam, Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection or Intel® Wireless WiFi, Intel® High Definition Audio MDC Fax/Modem, 10/100 Base T, Built-in Bluetooth™V2.0+EDR, Built-in Intel® High Definition Audio compliant audio chip, Built-in speaker and microphone, 6 cell 4800mAh 53Whrs, and Windows XP Pro (SP2) already installed in the laptop. It also came with the emould for the A8 series which covers the top, lcd and the full keyboard and palm rest. Got it all at P69.5K at TipidPC.com, and I’d like to believe that I got a good deal out of it!

Oct 21 (before my rebond =P )

What was your main buying criteria for this laptop?

Mobility. Next was enough power to run heavy applications. I’ll state my observations later.

What other laptops were you looking at before you decided on this laptop?

MacBook, MacBook Pro, Asus VX2s & F3Sv… they were all expensive though =P

Were your computing needs satisfied after buying your laptop?

Not all, unfortunately. For my imaging apps it runs slower than expected. i thought the extra 2G Ram would help (since I also was not given an option to upgrade the processor and video card), but i still wait a few seconds for these apps to load or open files. On the other hand, I enjoy the convenience of bringing my laptop and chance upon free wifi connections, like right now =) and for most office apps it does it’s job well =)

Would you recommend this laptop to others?

yep. it’s not a bad laptop at all! i’m just not getting the power i need for imaging software, but otherwise the whole package is great!

What’s BAD about your laptop? What you think could be improved about it.

I just wanted to be able to upgrade to at least 2.0 GHz before i bought this and pack it with an Nvidia 8600M GT, however my supplier said he’ll still need to order that from Taiwan and some tax hassles discouraged me. But it’s got what i need mostly, so overall I’m happy with it =)
